ESUHSD 2020 MLK Student Contest

STUDENTS WILL RESPOND TO THE TASK BELOW:

After reading and reflecting upon the statement from Dr. MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech, “Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood” produce a response in writing, art, or video that expresses how his sentiments are reflected in our community today.


WRITING CATEGORY: May be a poem or an essay on 8 ½” x 11” white paper. Maximum length: 500 words. Writing entries should be submitted electronically in Word.

VISUAL ART CATEGORY: Any media (besides video) including computerized/digital non-moving images, and sculptures. Size must be 11”x17” (2-D) or no larger than 12”x12”x12”(3-D). Art entries can be submitted in hard copy or scanned as pdf., or jpg.

VIDEO CATEGORY: May be a team no larger than 2 (prize money split evenly). The content for the video can be an array of types. Acceptable entry file types include: mp4, mov, and wmv. You may also upload your content to YouTube.

DEADLINES

Students must submit contest entries to the English or an Art teacher at their school by: Monday, December 14, 2020.
