To All ESTA Members,
Negotiations with the district this summer did not go as most of us had hoped. We were able to meet with the district on June 27th for a few hours. There was a little bit of progress. It was the only time that the bargaining team met this summer.
As your president, there are a few ideas regarding our negotiation practices that I want to implement. This will require personnel changes to our bargaining team. The new members of the bargaining team cannot be approved until the ESTA executive board (eboard) meeting on August 22. This will also allow the new Assistant Superintendent, John Rubio, a chance to assemble his new bargaining team. The plan is to then meet for negotiations ASAP after August 22.
With new leadership from both sides, and with new members to both bargaining teams, I am hopeful that we can get this past years contract done and move on. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
