MHN DirectLinc
Employee Assistance Program
As an individual eligible for district-paid benefits, working 50% or more, you are eligible to receive DirectLinc EAP services, administered by MHN. Your spouse, domestic partner, children 18 or under, or age 23 or under if full-time student, are also eligible. You and your eligible dependents are entitled to receive seven (7) sessions per employee, seven (7) sessions per spouse, and seven (7) sessions per aggregate children per benefit period commencing 7/1.
CLINICAL COUNSELING
50 minutes per session.
Most of us have problems at some time in our lives. Generally, we can manage them on our own. At times, however, help is needed and a skilled professional can provide focus, direction, and support. MHN’s nationwide network of licensed counselors can help you identify and resolve issues involving: relationships and marital issues; family problems; stress and emotional distress; life changes; alcohol and drug abuse; other problems affecting you and your family members. (Your counseling sessions usually will be conductged in a counselor’s private office.)
LIVE MANAGEMENT SERVICES
MHN provides telephone consultations for the following services:
Financial Connsultations
Up to one hour per session.
MHN Life Management consultants can: help you develop a personal or family budget; provide information about saving money, paying off debts, and setting financial goals; teach you about your credit rights and options; guide you on bankruptcy issues. (MHN doesn’t give loans, pay bills, provide tax or investment counseling or deal with creditors.)
Organizing Life’s Affairs
Up to one hour per session.
To help organize important paperwork, consultants can: discuss possible obstacles to getting organized; identify and help you complete an inventory of essential documents; present guidelines for a personal record-keeping system; offer tools and suggestions for getting things in order in preparation for an emergency.
Pre-Retirement Counseling
Up to one hour per session.
MHN Life Management consultants offer guidance on: relocation options; the quality of life after retirement; the impact of retirement on the family.
Legal Counseling
Up to 30 minutes per session.
Attorneys working for MHN give legal guidance regarding: family law; wills and contracts; personal injury; real estate; criminal law; consumer law. (MHN doesn’t provide legal advice concerning tax, immigration, labor and employment, or patent law.)
Child Care Consultations
Up to one hour per consultation.
MHN child care consultants can help you: assess your current and future child care needs; understand the role of developmental issues in choosing care; identify community resources; monitor and evaluate the quality of care your child receives.
Federal Taxpayer Consultation and Representation Service
You and your family share a total of 90 minutes each benefit year for this tax service, consisting of three sessions of up to 30 minutes each.
This is not a tax preparation service, but instead is a service for situations that include: an IRS audit or collection action (levy n wages or property); delinquent or unfilled federal tax returns; other IRS problems that need resolution. In addition to these free EAP sessions, if you desire actual representation before the IRS, representation services are available on an employee-paid, fee-for-service basis at below-market rates.
Sanity Savers
MHN Personal Assistants can locate and make referrals for: finding a business and service nationwide; automobile repair and maintenance; finding tickets to your next event; researching special projects; and much more.
